Frank Iero was born into a family of drummers.

When it came time to launch his own career, though, he chose guitar over drums, and hardcore and punk rock over the blues and jazz favoured by his father and grandfather.

He found fame as a member of My Chemical Romance, releasing a handful of albums that would catapult the New Jersey band from half empty punk rock clubs to the world’s biggest stages, before they split in 2012.

MCR reunited in 2019, and while Frank remains a member of that band he is also focused on the career he launched during their hiatus, with acts such as frnkiero and the cellabration, Frank Iero and The Patience, and his latest project, Frank Iero and The Future Violents.

In this interview we talk about everything from his upbringing to the rise of My Chemical Romance, his solo work, and much more.
